Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne Millesimé Brut 2015
Xtrawine
After 1976 and 2003, 2015 was the third hottest year since 1951. The drought intensified from mid-May until the second half of August. Thus, for three months, the Champagne region was marked by unprecedented heat that slowed down the development of the grape clusters somewhat. Unexpectedly, rain fell on the vineyards for a good two weeks after 15 August. At the same time, and fortunately, the temperatures dropped sharply and limited the risk of disease. The bunches of grapes were thus able to develop without disturbing the ripening process and without disrupting the harvest. However, the harvest was carried out under close supervision throughout the entire appellation area in order to obtain optimum potential degrees and levels of ripeness. The grapes are very healthy and the musts are very ripe, which bodes that the wines will be full.
